Citation checker

Paste or upload an AI-written document. CITECHECK finds its citations and checks each one against its source.

Runs in your browser. Your text is never sent. This page lists the citations it finds and checks, in your browser, whether each one exists in a version-pinned copy of its source; it does not say whether a citation supports the text around it. DOIs are only checked if you click the check button under Links & DOIs, and then only those DOI strings are sent, to Crossref and doi.org. Web links are listed but never requested by this page.

How to read your results

  • found: the ID is in the version-pinned copy of its source; its text is shown (headings show a title).
  • not found: that source has no such ID; the nearest range is shown if any.
  • superseded: withdrawn or replaced; the reason and current equivalent are shown where known.
  • exists only: ISO/IEC 42001; the number exists, but no ISO text is stored.

Not checked: whether a citation backs up the sentence around it. Checks of dated claims, like application dates, are limited.

Everything runs in your browser; your text is never sent.

Existence check

Each citation is looked up in a version-pinned copy of its source, in this browser: found (the clause text is shown), not found, superseded (with the current equivalent) or, for ISO/IEC 42001, exists only (numbers and titles, no ISO text). Whether a clause backs up the sentence that cites it is a separate check that is not built yet. Every result names the corpus file and its hash; see Sources below.

Sources

The corpus files the existence check uses, bundled with this page. Each shows its version, retrieval date, source, licence, and corpus ID with a short hash (hover for the full SHA-256).
